about

This was actually one of the first songs written for our album Coping Machine, but we held off on releasing it because we felt that it could stand on its own.

lyrics

Where did you run to
when the lights went out
I watched your heart stop
right on my couch
and I will bury your remains
in my heart like a cave
and that's a slight exaggeration,
but I'll tell it that way cause
you're much different than I thought you would be
I guess it's really my fault
for believing everything that I read
but it's okay, I'm the same exact way
I've got my image all together
and my life in disarray

I will hold on tight to the start
ignore the problems that were there from the beginning
I know this is already too far
and I've got no right to your heart

I just thought it was more than that
you made me feel like I
guess I should expect these things to die
crawl in the casket way too soon
and turn out the light

drunk on the train tracks
we were reckless kids
until my heart stopped
grew up and gave in
and now I barely leave my place
I just sit inside my cave
contemplating whether I should stay or move far away
life isn't like what I thought it would be
and that's why I was so surprised you even looked at me
so I built my hopes up high and forgot my pride
and that's why (that's why)

I let myself go all in
pulled out the stops when I thought that I was winning
I know
you can't just force your feelings
even if you wanted to
I'll let go of you soon

I just thought it was more than that
you made me feel like I
guess I should expect these things to die
crawl in the casket way too soon
and turn out the light
turn out the light

all the reckless nights in my mind
and how reckless was I to think I found what I was looking for
a fashionable glass spine and a sandpaper sense of emotional lack-of-closure
you've made up your mind
just leave me behind

I just thought it was more than that
you made me feel like I
guess I should expect these things to die
crawl in the casket way too soon
I just want to know
where did you run to
where did you run to

but hey
if you made up your mind
hey hey
if you made up your mind
oh hey
if you made up your mind
hey hey hey
just leave me behind
